The Turner House Living Center for Veterans
The Turner House, located in beautiful Williamstown, Massachusetts, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides outstanding care to residents who have generously served their country and now find themselves homeless.
In addition to providing resources and comprehensive services such as case management and recovery groups, The Turner House offers a comfortable home where veterans can live safely and with dignity in an alcohol / drug free environment. |
It all began when World War II Veteran, Ferman Turner, donated his home in Williamstown to the local American Legion Post #152 with the stipulation that it be used for veteran housing. The Turner House opened its doors to its first resident in 1996 after volunteers completed a 21 month reconstruction on the building. Since then, 150 veterans have lived there, many of whom have "graduated" and now live in local communities while still maintaining a relationship with the organization.
The Turner House is managed by an Executive Director with the help of several part-time staff. Their work is overseen by a Board of Directors. Funding comes from The Veterans Administration, Massachusetts Department of Veterans Services, residents, private foundations, and personal donations. Find out how you can help today!
